Coyote Hills Community,

I hope this letter finds you all in good spirits and health. I hope that your vacations brought you joy and time to connect with those you love. My family and I spent a month in Spain this summer. We travelled to Barcelona and the island of Mallorca. We enjoyed the whole month navigating, experiencing and living in a new situation. We were, however, very ready to come home to our roots and our air conditioning! Now the school year is only days away! This is an exciting time for our teachers, students and families. It is a time of anticipation and of excitement. Students are feeling excited about their new teachers and classmates.  Teachers are anticipating the moment they can open their doors to their new class. Families are excited about getting back to routines and watching their children grow academically. I am excited for the new journey I am starting as I become part of the Coyote Hills Family. I was lucky enough to spend some time at the beginning of June with many of our staff members at the Project Based Learning training that was put on by the Buck Institute. This was an incredible opportunity to watch our innovative staff learn, grow and interact with incredible instructional theories. I was impressed by the level of excellence our teachers showed. I am excited to be the guide and support for our teachers as they bring the best practice to our students.

This year will also be a year of exciting transitions in many different areas. Coyote Hills has a new leader, many new teachers and a new innovative learning center. The district has a new Superintendent, new administrative structures and new initiatives that are moving forward this year.  Over all, there is a high amount of transition for the school and the district. I can assure you that the team at Coyote Hills has worked tirelessly over the summer to hire the right people and do the right learning to make this coming year a success. I will support their work by being present and open to all community members.  If you have anxieties, I am happy to spend some time face to face to discuss needs and questions. Please contact the main office to schedule a sit down or email me when you have something to discuss. Please allow for a 24 hour response time on emails.

This year I would like to welcome; Mindy Childers as our new arts teacher, Megan Bergman our new LD teacher, Sklyar Johnson our 5th grade teacher, Hana Doran our 4th grade teacher  to our Coyote Hills family. Please come meet these and all the wonderful staff at Coyote Hills on August 2nd 2:00pm-4:00pm at our annual Meet and Greet. Please note that the library is being converted to an innovative learning space and will still be under construction. I am so excited to meet you all!

Warmly,

Hillary Pohlmann
