MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Coyote Hills Community,

It is with honor and excitement that I greet you as the newly appointed principal of Coyote Hills Elementary!  I appreciate the opportunity to become a member of this family and I look forward to our journey together.

You will quickly see that I am an adventurous soul who welcomes change and enjoys taking risks in order to learn and grow.  Luckily I married someone who shares these same characteristics and is willing to travel uncharted waters!  My husband, Kyle, is also an administrator and together we have journeyed through our educational career as first year teachers in a new state, graduate students with a two-year-old, and first year administrators ready to make our marks!  After living in Texas for eleven years and having two little girls who needed to be closer to family, we returned home to Colorado four years ago. We are happy to have put down permanent roots here.  Our oldest daughter Jenna is a creative young lady who will be going into 6th grade at West Middle School and Jillian is an energetic five-year-old who is very excited to start Kindergarten at Homestead Elementary.  As a UNC graduate and college soccer player, I really hope that one of them finds her way onto a soccer field soon and chooses to brave the smell of Greeley, Colorado, when college time arrives!

I have been privileged to have spent 15 very diverse years as an educator working with students from the elementary and middle school levels.  The first 8 years I gained perspective and insight teaching students of all races and economic backgrounds within the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  The last 7 years have been in leadership roles including principal positions in both the public and private sectors.  Within these roles one of my strongest passions has been to help others recognize the unique qualities they possess and their potential for personal and professional growth.  And as we take on this time of transition together, I will challenge students, staff and parents to become active members of our learning community by bringing your unique qualities to the table. As a united team we can ensure that Coyote Hills is a place where every student, teacher, staff and parent feels valued, heard and encouraged to contribute their best each day.

As the building leader, I will maintain a safe and trusting environment, where learners are able to take risks, knowing these are opportunities for growth. Within this trusting environment, I look forward to the opportunity to work with parents, students and staff to find innovative approaches to challenges we may face. Through my experience, I have acquired important leadership skills that I am excited to bring to Coyote Hills, beginning a new chapter here in the Cherry Creek School District.

I look forward to shaking all of your hands very soon and I am truly honored to be able to love and nurture your children as their new principal!  It's going to be a great year!!

Sincerely,

Amber Sorg
